Although Foz do Iguaçu is best known for its natural beauty, few people know that it has a rich cultural diversity. An example of such condition is the presence of a Buddhist Temple, which was built in 1996, close to the Paraná River. The site has a large garden consisting of 120 identical statues placed side by side resembling an army, aligned toward the sunset. Each one of them represents the reincarnation of Buddha on Earth. In the Temple one can also see bigger statues, which are supported by replicas of dragons and elephants, supposed to protect the Buddha. Another highlight is the main 2500 sq. m two-floor temple and the presence of five large sculptures: The Great Vow, the Supreme Bliss, the Master of Medicine, The Great Compassion and the Sakyamuni.
